CARE

Using and caring for your umbrella

Enjoy it in the rain, then give the canopy time to dry. Gentle opening and careful storage help protect the paper, finish and frame.

Choose between an 84 cm canopy with 28 ribs and a 100 cm canopy with 32 ribs. Half-laced and fully laced options offer different patterns beneath the canopy.

Warm-lit blue, ivory and orange threadwork based on the supplied SHENGHE umbrella reference.

Can I use it in the rain?

Yes. The umbrellas in SHENGHE’s current catalogue are made for rain use. The canopy has a protective gloss finish applied by hand in three coats. After use, let the umbrella dry thoroughly before packing it away.

How should I dry it?

Let the umbrella air-dry in a shaded, well-ventilated place. Allow all moisture to leave the canopy before storing it in a bag or enclosed space.

How do I open it?

Ease the canopy open gently, then guide the runner along the shaft. If a fold or part of the frame resists, stop and release it carefully before continuing. Never force the mechanism.

Does the finish contain tung oil?

The umbrellas in our current catalogue use an upgraded gloss finish without tung oil. It is applied in three coats by hand.

What is the difference between partial and full lacing?

Both describe the decorative threadwork beneath the canopy. Full lacing uses more rows of holes to create a denser pattern; partial lacing leaves more of the bamboo visible. The available options depend on the selected size and design.

Can I paint a plain umbrella?

Speak with us about your artwork and materials first. A plain-colour canopy still has a surface finish, so paint compatibility and the order of decoration and finishing need to be considered before you begin.
